Light fittings

New lights up, old ones down, same day

Swapping a ceiling light, pendant or switch for a new one, like for like. Power off at the board, old fitting down, new one up, tested and left working.

Two flush oak-rimmed LED ceiling lights fitted and switched on in a room in Oxfordshire

What it costs

A fixed price, agreed before we start

Send a photo of one of the existing fittings and tell us how many need doing. You get a price in writing for the whole job — not an hourly rate.

More than one fitting in the same visit costs less per light, because most of the cost is getting there, getting the power off safely and setting up. If you have a boxful waiting, it is worth doing them together. Quotes are free and there is no obligation.

Lights fitted round Oxfordshire

All of these are jobs we have actually done. No stock photographs.

Where the line is

What we can do, and what needs an electrician

Some electrical work is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations and has to be done or signed off by a registered electrician. We do not pretend otherwise, and we will tell you which side of the line your job falls on before we quote.

✓ We can do this

  • Swapping a ceiling light or pendant for a new one on the existing wiring
  • Replacing a switch or socket faceplate like for like
  • Fitting a strip light or panel where a fitting already exists
  • Replacing a fitting that has stopped working, when the wiring behind it is sound

! This goes to an electrician

  • Any new circuit, or a new point where there wasn't one
  • Anything at the consumer unit or fuse board
  • Work in a bathroom or shower room, or outdoors
  • Anything where the existing wiring turns out to be old, damaged or not up to it

If we open a fitting and find something that shouldn't be there, we stop, make it safe, tell you plainly what we found, and you don't pay for work we haven't done.

How it works

Four steps, no surprises

  1. You send a photoA picture of the existing fitting and the new one usually tells us enough to price it without coming out.
  2. You get a fixed priceIn writing, with the number of fittings stated. More than one and the price per light drops.
  3. We fit themA time, not a four-hour window. Power off at the board, dust sheets down, every fitting tested before we move on.
  4. We tidy upOld fittings taken away if you want them gone, packaging flattened, floor left as we found it.

Got a box of new lights sitting in the hall?

Send a photo of one of the old fittings and tell us how many there are. You'll get a fixed price back, usually the same day.
